BTS’ International Superstardom
Both “Spring Day” and “Dynamite” are considered pop classics. Rolling Stone magazine recognized their significance by including both songs in its prestigious list of the 500 Greatest Songs, with “Dynamite” ranking at 347 and “Spring Day” at 280.
On a recent episode of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs, hosts Rob Sheffield and Brittany Spanos discussed the distinct qualities of “Dynamite” and “Spring Day” and how they showcase different aspects of BTS’ music. Journalist Michelle Hyun Kim joined the discussion to delve into the BTS phenomenon, tracing its origins, growth, global reach, and the complementary roles these songs play in the group’s narrative.
“Dynamite” marked BTS’ breakthrough in North America, propelling them to new heights of success after already establishing themselves as a powerhouse in the country. BTS achieved this feat on their own terms, refusing to conform to the expectations of the U.S. music industry. “Dynamite” became their first-ever Number One hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, solidifying their position as international music icons.
